Tools needed:
Universal swivel socket, socket handle, pliers, multimeter.
Steps.
- Open up the hood and access the fuse box. The fuse you have to check inside the block is 53. The cover on the box don't list it as hvac, but that is what is for. It is a 30 A fuse.
- Pull out the fuse with a pair of needle nose pliers; the fuse puller inside the box is too big to fit into the narrow gap; that is the reason to use the pliers.
- Check the fuse and replace if necessary. Note. if fanspeed 5 doesn`t work, this should fix the problem.
- Also check the fuses both the driver and passenger side doors. The panels are on the side and you have to open the door to see the triangle door.
- Check the HVAC Blower motor fuse on the passenger side box and and the hvac fuse on the drivers side.
- Note: there are only three fuse panels in the car.
- If the fanspeed 1,2,3, or 4 still don`t work, then it is most likely the resistors.
- Remove the panels underneath the glove compartment. You need to take out two panels.
- From undernealth, disconnect the connector to the resistor.
- Reach all the way into the back and unscrew the two holding the resistor with the socket.
- Replace the card. Note: the screw in the back is really hard to remove because it is next to the firewall.
